Tim Halstrom – Experienced Alabama Trial Attorney

Tim Halstrom is a seasoned attorney with over four decades of legal experience. A 1982 graduate of Cumberland Law School in Birmingham, Alabama, Tim began his legal career as a partner at Riggs, NeSmith, and Halstrom. In 1988, he established his private law practice, focusing on Criminal Defense and Domestic Relations.

As a dedicated Criminal Defense trial lawyer, Tim has represented hundreds of clients facing a wide range of charges—from Capital Murder and Drug Conspiracies to theft and assault. In addition, he has handled numerous Domestic Relations cases, including divorce, child custody, and support disputes, guiding clients through challenging legal matters with skill and compassion.

Tim is a proud member in good standing of both the Alabama Bar Association and the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (NACDL). His practice primarily serves Central Alabama, and he is admitted to practice in:

• U.S. District Courts for the Middle and Northern Districts of Alabama

• U.S. Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals (Atlanta)

 

Beyond his legal career, Tim is a distinguished veteran, having served 26 years in the U.S. Army (including 6 years on active duty and 20 years with the Alabama Army National Guard). A skilled helicopter pilot, he completed over 900 combat hours during the Vietnam War. Tim retired from military service in 1995 with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel (Lt. Col.).
